GSC awarded $49,836.00 under the Prugråman I Pinilan I Famagu’on Guahån Community Care & After School Grant Program.
Guåhan Sustainable Culture (GSC) was recently awarded $49,836.00 under the Prugråman I Pinilan I Famagu’on Guahån Community Care & After School Grant Program.
“The funds will allow us to continue our Li’l Sprouts Academy Summer program again next year, providing a safe place for middle schoolers from around the island to learn new skills such as how to grow, harvest, and prepare fruits and vegetables while engaging in physical exercise and learning about healthy lifestyles,” said Marlyn Oberiano, GSC vice president.
Michelle Crisostomo, GSC President added, “We hope for this to be a signature program that we offer to families every year. It was very rewarding to see students go from caring for plants and animals, to being able to harvest and prepare food to share with fellow students and families, teaching them the importance of where their food comes from.”
Funding for the grant was provided utilizing Child Care Stabilization Grants appropriated in the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act and authorized by the Honorable Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero, Governor of Guam, pursuant to Executive order No. 2022-07
