Hagatna, Guam - Guåhan Sustainable Culture receives $50,000 from Newman’s Own Foundation to help advance children’s nutrition security in U.S. indigenous communities. Funding will help expand Guåhan Sustainable Culture’s nutrition and agriculture-based educational programming for Guam schools.

Newman’s Own Foundation, a private foundation founded by legendary actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, is known for its radically good philanthropic philosophy of “giving it all away.” The Foundation relaunched its mission in 2022 to be 100% focused on helping nourish and transform the lives of children who face adversity. Funded entirely by 100% of profits and royalties from Newman’s Own food and beverages, Newman's Own Foundation has awarded Guåhan Sustainable Culture funding as part of its efforts to bring joy to children facing serious illness, and advance nutrition security across the U.S., including indigenous communities where funding has been historically low.

"This funding is going to provide significant support towards our educational programs and allow us to continue our work in the community while contributing to the effective operations of GSC,” said Michelle Crisostomo, President and Co-founder for GSC. “It’s organizations like the Newman’s Own Foundation that are empowering non-profits like GSC to achieve their goals by directing funds to where they are needed most,” Crisostomo continued.

Guåhan Sustainable Culture is dedicated to striving toward a Guåhan where its people experience greater food security, are proficient in cultivating their own food, and most importantly, where its land, air and seas are sustained for future generations.
