CHamoru Culinary Heritage Summer Program

Connect With Culture Through Food and Farming

Guåhan Sustainable Culture invites young learners (middle school grades 6-8) to join our immersive summer program celebrating CHamoru culinary traditions and sustainable food practices! Running June through August 2025 at our Food Resiliency Hub in Yona, this program offers weekly themed sessions where students will:

  • Learn traditional recipes directly from CHamoru elders

  • Grow and harvest local ingredients in our gardens

  • Discover sustainable farming techniques

  • Practice CHamoru language related to food and cooking

  • Create a collection of family recipes and cultural knowledge

  • Participate in hands-on cooking activities and tastings

  • Connect with their cultural heritage through food

This program is free to join and limited to 25 students. Each week explores different themes, from ocean harvests to celebration foods, culminating in a community feast!

This program is made possible by funding from the Newman's Own Foundation
